J. Herbin's standard line of inks is known as "La Perle des Encres" or "The Jewel of Inks." These dye-based inks are smooth-flowing and easy to clean out of your pen, making them ideal for beginners—or if you don't always practice perfect pen hygiene. They perform well even on copy paper, without too much of the feathering or bleedthrough that often occurs with fountain pens. 

Herbin is the oldest name in pen inks in the world. “The Jewel of Inks” was created in Paris in 1670. Herbin uses all natural dyes in their fountain pen inks. They are mainly composed of water, humectant to limit drying at the level of the pen and preservative to preserve their qualities over time. This natural composition is reflected in the very neutral pH of the inks. The dyes used have been specially selected to offer the richest color range on the market. Finally these inks are finely filtered so as not to clog the pens.
