This fairly simple pattern for a box cushion is easy to follow, be quick to produce as it uses DMC Natura XL cotton and last many Summers on a bench or on the lawn, as long as it isn't left outside for months, without losing its shape and used as a floor cushion in Winter if desired.  It is also machine washable, but always follow the manufacturers recommendation as cotton will stretch in the wrong wash, and stretch forever..... 

If you are a beginner don't be put off by the bullion stitch. It is easy and produces very chunky, hard wearing crochet!
