Some more information about Sennelier:

L'Aquarelle Sennelier has been produced in the same way for more than a century using high-quality pigments and top quality Kordofan Gum Arabic as a bonding agent. The honey used in L'Aquarelle Sennelier acts not only as a preservative but also as an additive that adds brilliance and smoothness to the paint. Sennelier has revamped its watercolour formula, increasing the amount of honey to reinforce the longevity, radiance, and luminosity of the colours. True to Sennelier's roots, the colour palette remains that of the Impressionists and the paint is, as always, made in France using traditional methods. Each colour is ground in the traditional way using grindstones rotating slowly so as not to heat up the paste. This operation is carried out in several stages until the paste is as fine as possible, getting rid of any particles which might impair the smoothness of the wash.?

    For the price there is

"For the price there is little to fault about these artist quality watercolour set. The 8 provided half pan paints are very high quality and they activate easily and re-wet easily, too. As they contain honey they tend to stay wetter than many of my other watercolours, which does make the tin get messy. Speaking of the tin it is very cute, but not especially practical. The paint pans are in a little plastic tray which means they are raised up too much and mess up the see-through lid, which doubles up as your only mixing area. What others have done and what I also plan to do is to remove the plastic tray and get some magnetic sticker strips to put on the bottom of some empty pain pans and put these paints in those. I will also use that as an opportunity to add a few more colours as while the colours provided are all good, there are some omissions that I would like to see added. Arguably there needs to be a warm yellow (e.g. Indian), a cooler red (Carmine) and a cooler blue (Phthalo) added to make for a more balanced colour choice especially for mixing. That said, what has been provided is very good and I am happy enough with the greens and burnt umber, and the Payne's grey (though I could mix grey easily enough). The included travel brush is nice to have but useful only for details as it is so small. Overall despite the negatives this is probably the cheapest way to get 8 asst quality half pan watercolours in a tin, which can be modified to be more useful (e.g. take 4 more paint pans). My only debate now is whether to try and find 4 more Sennelier paint pans to go in it (they are very expensive to buy individually) or go for Jackson's own brand (made by Sennelier) or Roman Szmal. I will limit my choice to these three makes as a) they all contain honey and so will behave similarly, and b) they are all available in half pans (unlike White Nights or Rosa Gallery). Service from Outback Yarns very good and price unbeatable. I just hope they start selling more art tools and especially keenly priced individual paint pans."
